Something Quirkier offers community engagement opportunities and workshops in feltmaking, drama and arts education.

You can join projects to learn new skills and share your insights. You will collaborate with creative folk in the Canberra region and beyond. 

Teacher workshops are available. Learn new skills.  Incorporate the Arts in meaningful and significant ways to enriching and enhance learning experiences across the curriculum.

Feltmaking courses:



Grand Day Out Feltmaking class

Saturday 27 September

Tuggeranong Arts Centre. 

This felt-making experience is designed for adults - or kids 9+ years accompanied by an adult. No felt making experience necessary.There are two free sessions:

  • 10:30 – 11:15am  
  • 11:30am – 12:15pm 

This is a taster class where you get to try out wet-felting techniques starting with wool and silk fibre and turning it into fabric. You will leave with your very own hand-made felt flower.

Basics and Beyond

Two x three-hour sessions on Saturday 4 and Saturday 18 October, 10am - 1pm (attend both sessions).

Canberra Region Feltmakers (CRF), Kambah Scout Hall, Kett Street, Kambah, ACT. 

CRF offers workshops introducing those new to wet felting to the basic skills needed to start creating your own beautiful felt pieces.

In the first session of Basics and Beyond you will learn the steps make a piece of quality flat felt: laying out the woo fibres, wetting down, rolling, fulling, and most importantly, how to tell when your felt is fully felted. You will also explore a range of felting techniques to embellish (aka decorate) your flat felt.

In the second session you will explore using a resist to make a 3D object such as a finger puppet, vessel or small bag OR how to cover a 3D object in felt (the choice is yours).  

In between the session you can try out some of the techniques at home (if you want to). 

By the end of the course you will have made at least two felted items.

All materials and most equipment provided. The cost is $115 for both sessions.

Explore wet felting in a friendly environment of like-minded makers. I will teach techniques according to participant interest and experience, guiding you through methods of making ‘nuno’ felt, finger puppets, flowers, vessels and more. Beginners and intermediate makers are welcome.
