Something Quirkier

A series of six glass tiles were created by students from Lake Tuggeranong College (#101-#106) and curated for display by Lynn and Jillian using a frame and hand dyed blankets donated by Chris.

See the work in more detail in this video.

101. Stream

Float glass tile and cut coloured glass

My glass tile captures the essence of a tranquil moment - sunlight gently streaming in through the curtains, casting a warm and soothing glow that gracefully dances across the room.

102. Present #1

 created by Betty Holdsworth

Float glass tiles, coloured glass frit and cut coloured glass

In my youth, I grappled with the weight of debilitating depression. During these challenging times, I found solace in fleeting moments: gazing at the ever-changing clouds and the gentle dance of grass in the wind. Several years later, when faced with another tumultuous chapter in my life, I was gifted "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It was within the pages of this (life-changing) book that I uncovered a remarkable revelation: my moments of cloud-watching and grass-observing were, in essence, a form of meditation. This practice granted me respite from my own thoughts, worries, and the labyrinth of my mind, guiding me towards a state of serene presence.

103. Suzi

Float glass tile and cut coloured glass

My artwork is a testament to a cherished small blessing in life. It's a tribute to none other than the artist Suzi Quatro, an iconic figure whose music and striking black leather jumpsuit worn on stage have woven their way into the fabric of my appreciation for the extraordinary.

105.  Toast

"Toast" is more than just an artwork; it's a heartfelt tribute to a furry friend who brought solace during trying times. Meet my beloved cat, Toast. When my other feline companion passed away, Toast came into my life like a ray of sunshine. He has been a constant source of support, guiding me through emotionally and mentally challenging moments with his unwavering presence and affection.
